What is the Role?

The SSE Electric Vehicles (EV) team have an ambitious five-year target to secure land to accommodate over 500 EV hubs across the UK & Ireland.  We’re committed to installing the required infrastructure across the UK to ensure successful transition from petrol/ diesel cars to electric vehicles in line with the UK’s carbon emissions targets.  To drive the expansion process, we’re looking for an experienced Land Acquisition Surveyor to cover the UK & Ireland ideally within the roadside, retail or leisure sector.

As Land Acquisition Surveyor, you’ll proactively source new sites and manage the project development from site identification & negotiation of commercial terms (Heads of Terms, Option and Lease Agreements). This will include grid connection and planning applications before progressing to construction. You’ll work with internal teams, analyse new & existing land opportunities, manage the development of multiple projects, be proactive in engaging with landlords & developers, and successfully complete lease agreements - all within agreed timescales. 

You’ll engage directly with the landlords, developers & external property surveyors to secure prime sites, becoming their main point of contact as projects move through the required processes.

In this role, you’ll be required to guide projects through SSE’s internal approval processes including governance & support teams (including Commercial & Legal teams) so as to deliver on annual development targets.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience within property surveying, ideally MRICS and/ or degree qualified however not essential if demonstrable expertise
  • Existing networks within the property industry
  • Able to communicate, influence and manage the expectations of a range of internal and external stakeholders. This includes negotiation & guidance through a range of commercial agreements to ensure information is presented accurately and effectively understood by the audience
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, thinking from both SSE & the Landlord’s perspective to close deals efficiently
