Base Location: Flexible UK – South of England Preferred.  We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK.

The SSE Electric Vehicles (EV) team have an ambitious five-year target to secure land to accommodate over 500 EV Charging Hubs across the UK & Ireland.  We’re committed to installing the required infrastructure across the UK to ensure successful transition from petrol and diesel cars to electric vehicles in line with the UK’s carbon emissions targets.  To drive the expansion process, we’re looking to expand our team of Land Acquisition Surveyor’s. Ideally the candidate will have roadside, retail, or leisure sector experience.  Although not essential our preference is to recruit someone who is based in the south of England.

The Role:

As a Land Acquisition Surveyor, you’ll proactively source new land opportunities and manage the project development from initial site identification through negotiation and agreement of commercial terms (Heads of Terms, Option and Lease Agreements).

Working with the Project Managers to ensure that electrical grid connection and planning applications are secured before progressing into construction.

You’ll work with internal teams, analyze new & existing land opportunities, manage the development of multiple projects, be proactive in engaging with landlords & developers, and successfully complete lease agreements within agreed timescales.

You’ll engage directly with the landlords, developers & our external property agents to secure prime sites, becoming their main point of contact as projects move through the required development processes.

In this role, you’ll also be required to guide projects through SSE’s internal governance & approval processes coordinating our Commercial & Legal support teams in order to deliver on annual development targets.

For this role we would love you to have:

MRICS qualification with 1-3 years PQE.

Experience within property surveying, ideally with a background in agency and/or roadside acquisitions.

Existing relationships with landlords/ developers, as well as a strong network of agency contacts.

To communicate, influence and manage the expectations of a range of internal and external stakeholders. This includes negotiation & guidance through a range of commercial agreements to ensure information is presented accurately and effectively understood by the audience.

To be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, thinking from both SSE & the Landlord’s perspective to close deals efficiently.

To have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and with a willingness to learn additional technical aspects of the job.
