About the Role

Base Location: Perth or Glasgow (preferred)

Salary: £32,900 - £45,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

As a natural monopoly, our Distribution business is subject to regulatory oversight by the industry regulator, Ofgem. As such we have a 'Regulatory Contract' (referred often to as a Regulatory Licence) in which we are required to comply with a number of obligations and underpins our financial and business performance drivers.

In this role, you'll support the design, development and automation of processes & reporting solutions and will support the development and implementation of the ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) / SOX Framework for SSE's Distribution Business. You'll have the opportunity to interact with all levels across the organisation, and support effective financial control across Distribution.

ICFR and the controls lifecycle is a continuous process to identify key processes and internal controls, ensuring that internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively by testing operation of those controls and undertaking necessary remediation of deficiencies to ensure risks are addressed.

The role is a varied and challenging role with key responsibilities as follows:

- Work closely with process leads to review processes, identify scope for and subsequent development of process improvements, including troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis to resolve issues.

- Collaborate with process owners in the preparation of process & controls documentation, including facilitating process walkthroughs to identify & document key activities, risks and controls.

- Assess control design and provide suggestions on ways to mitigate risk or enhance the effectiveness of processes.

- Test the effectiveness of the key controls identified, reporting control design deficiencies and controls not operating as designed, and supporting management to help them resolve deficiencies and implement corrective action plans.

- Support designing, developing and deploying Power Query analysis & reports

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:-

- Experience operating in a Finance role within a large organisation, ideally with experience of Financial Operations, Performance Reporting and disciplines such as Risk Management, Audit and SOX.

- Be self-motivated, proactive and organized, with exceptional attention to detail.

- Be proficient in MS office Applications with an advanced knowledge of Excel and be highly numerate with strong analytical and problem solving skills, ideally with experience of Power Query or Power BI.

- Have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills - both written and verbal.

- Have an appropriate accounting qualification (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) or be qualified by experience in a similar role.
