SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.
SSE Enterprise operates the largest Street Lighting Contracting business in the UK, maintaining in excess of 1 million lighting units and street furniture.

What is the Role?

SSE Enterprise in Cornwall are looking for an experienced Highway Senior Electrician. The role will be supporting a wide range of services provided to the local clients.

The majority of the works will be on the highway installing, maintaining and repairing electrical assets owned by the local council. These assets range from CCTV cameras, Weather Stations, Bus information Signs, Rising Bollards, Streetlighting, Traffic Signals, Highway Pumps and Closed Landfill Sites.

What do I need?

You will have completed an Electrical Apprenticeship or achieved an NVQ Level 3 and be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of Electrical systems operating principles. You should be qualified to the current IEE Wiring regulations BS7671 or to City and Guilds 2360 parts 1 and 2, or 2351,2330 level 2 and 3 [ or approved equivalent]. City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing would be an advantage.

The role would suit a person with a wide range of experience and knowledge of specialist equipment. A working knowledge of pumps, control panels and diesel generators would also be advantageous.

Working at height on the highway using a Mewp and holding the correct authorisations such as IPATH, HERS Registration and SMSTS would be beneficial. The role requires good communication and IT skills as back office software systems are in use to monitor equipment on site. The role could lead to progression and supporting the Team Manager to plan and supervise works.

It is essential you have a full UK driving licence for this role.

As safety is our number one priority, you must be confident to act on your own initiative in all situations.

You will also be required to cover out of hours call out as part of a rota and a van will be provided for your work duties.
