About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK (Scotland) | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the our Network in Scotland.

Base Location: Perth (Flexible throughout Scotland)

Salary: £36,260 to £44,257 + car allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

What is the Role?

We invest millions every year to make sure that our network is in the best condition possible to minimise the risk of power cuts and to ensure the safety of the public. During high winds and storms, trees can contact our equipment and cause power cuts, and so we cut them down or trim them back to keep the lights on. As well as installing the latest technologies and carrying out regular maintenance, we have our in-house tree-cutting team to make sure that trees and vegetation are kept away from our overhead lines and equipment.

Being part of the tree cutting team, you will be involved with managing a highly skilled team who maintain trees & vegetation near the distribution network. Working with safety at the forefront of all activities, you will work with the team to manage a cyclical programme of tree cutting operations.

The key duties & responsibilities of the Harvesting Liaison Manager are:

  • To provide consultative advice to the Networks Business on commercial timber harvesting and general Forestry Management activity affecting overhead and underground networks.
  • To facilitate 3rd party commercial timber harvesting requests through planning and arranging PSI’s, Live Line Harvesting and hand cutting, network alterations and/or alternative solutions.
  • To manage direct timber harvesting programmes.
  • Support the business with storm / fault restoration activity
  • To liaise with the forest Industry and other relevant stakeholders to improve network resilience through alignment of work programmes and 3rd party Forest Management Plan changes. 

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience working within the Forest Industry, specifically operational forestry management or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge of standard forestry practice, licencing and legislation.
  • Hold a minimum HND forestry or equivalent qualification.
  • Good management and organisational skills and familiar with Microsoft products including excel, word, teams, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence and be flexible regards travel, this role will require the role holder to be available to work across all Scotland geographical areas.
