What is the Role?
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Energy Customer Solutions business of SSE for a Financial Accountant. The role will be focused around supporting the Finance Manager in providing timely and effective support to both the Airtricity and Business Energy business within the Business Energy and SSE Customer Energy Solutions management team, in the areas of Indirect costs and Debt portfolio. The role will be responsible for the processing of month end in a timely manner, assisting in budgeting & forecasting activities, preparing detailed variance analysis on a monthly basis using strong knowledge of the business and industry to identify key trends, KPI reporting and balance sheet control account reconciliations.
Key Accountabilities
Period end close & Management reporting
Assist in completion month end process for Airtricity & Business Energy Indirect costs including accrual and prepayment postings.
Collate information for key operational metrics from the business to use in analysis of month end performance.
Prepare Indirect reports for key stakeholders across the business on a monthly basis ensuring that they understand key drivers of variances.
P&L preparation & BS reconciliations
Timely preparation of BS control account reconciliations for review and sign-off of by finance manager, using judgement to highlight and investigate key and unexpected variances.
Maintain financial policies and procedures for the company as laid out by Group and Finance.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist finance manager in co-ordination of annual Indirect & Manpower budget including reconciling inputs to system output, preparing reports to provide financial insight on key movements from prior years.
Statutory Reporting
Preparation of financial statements for review by finance manager. Liaising with auditors to ensure appropriate backup provided as requested.
