Finance Analyst - Onshore Renewables

Base Location: Glasgow

Salary: £22,700 - £34,100  + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

SSE Renewables (SSER) is the UK and Ireland’s leading renewable energy company. Our aim is to be the largest and most efficient developer of onshore and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland. We drive new growth by identifying, developing, building and operating high quality assets in GB, Ireland and internationally. In order to contribute to a low carbon future, we have committed to treble our current Renewables output by 2030.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Finance Manager to join the Onshore Renewables Commercial Finance team based in Glasgow/ Perth.

The Onshore Renewables Business comprises:

• 1.9GW of operational Onshore Wind capacity in Great Britain and Ireland
• 1.2GW of operational Hydro Generation capacity in Scotland
• 300MW of operational Pumped Storage capacity in Scotland
• Over 1GW development & construction pipeline of Onshore Wind capacity for delivery in the next 5 years
• Up to 1.5GW of Pumped Storage capacity in development
• Ambition to expand internationally in the near future

You will be a part of the Onshore Renewables Commercial Finance team where you will support in the delivery of the team’s objectives & responsibilities. The main responsibility of the team is to ensure our stakeholders and business partners have the best financial insight and information available to make the best decisions possible and ultimately add value to the business.

The role is varied, and you will work on a range of different workstreams, however your recurring responsibilities will include: monthly management reporting; KPI reporting; variance analysis; budgeting & forecasting; and, supporting the wider team on project work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building and maintaining relationships with a number of key stakeholders across the SSE Onshore Renewables Business
• Support in the preparation of a suite of management finance reports
• Investigating and explaining key drivers of variances to budget / forecast
• Other modelling and analysis as required
• Participation in business improvement and value add projects

Your Skills and Experience

• Ideal for partly qualified accountant or someone beginning their professional qualification journey  
• Highly proficient in MS Excel
• Have experience working with non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to research, understand and resolve a wide range of issues
• Working knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures

In addition to the above you will be a strong communicator, professional and diligent, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure, whilst never compromising on the quality of your work. You will be flexible, adept at managing expectations and be able to adapt to changing business needs.
