Base Location: Reading, Berkshire. The role will incorporate flexible working with an expectation of working from the base location 2 or 3 days per week.

Salary: £38,600 - £58,000 + car allowance + performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

As an Estates Surveyor within SSE's Southern Property Services Team, you will be responsible for the management of a mixed portfolio of freehold and leasehold property interests on behalf of the SSE business segments. This will involve providing SSE stakeholders, including senior managers and external third parties, with a professional advisory covering all aspects of Corporate Real Estate operations.

The role will require you to acquire leasehold and freehold property, dispose of surplus assets and manage a varied portfolio consisting of industrial and office properties in line with SSE's property strategy to deliver continuous improvement in performance. Additionally, your responsibilities will extend to negotiating with landlords and tenants on lease renewals, rent reviews and dealing with business rates. Experience of service charge management will be required to be successful in this role. You will also manage the Property Services revenue and capex expenditure, working with finance colleagues to deliver budget compliance.

What do I need?

You must have a good understanding of Corporate Real Estate and have the ability to contribute to a small team to achieve set performance objectives. Previous experience of financial management and achieving targets is key to being successful in this role.

Ideally, you will be a full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Commercial Property, Valuation or Planning & Development). You should have a relevant associated degree and a relevant post qualification experience. Previous experience of managing complex land and property transactions with multi-use/multi-occupancy issues is vital, as well possessing excellent negotiation skills and the ability to deal with conflict.

You should be familiar with commercial property data bases and Microsoft software packages including Office 365.

The job role will require extensive travel in Southern/South-Western England, Wales and occasional travel to Scotland. An ability to work under your own initiative and prioritise and manage changing workloads is essential for this role.
