Base Location: Medway Power Station

Salary: £45,200 - £67,800 + annual performance incentive + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 hours per week | Flexible working patterns available

What is the Role?

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Daywork Support Engineer) is responsible for the day-to-day planned maintenance of the electrical assets on the Power Station. The assets range from general power distribution systems, HV and LV induction motors, actuators, HV (up t0 15kV) switchgear, 400kV transformers and switchgear, 15kV synchronous generators and excitation systems. The DSE will have technicians directly reporting to him/her, as well as our two electrical apprentices and you will work closely with the Engineering Team's Electrical Engineer and have support from third party partners as well as access to SSE's Engineering and Innovation expertise. The maintenance team have equivalent DSE's in the mechanical and the C&I disciplines. You will be part of the Station's Production team and on a day-to-day basis, work closely with our Shift Group Leaders to ensure that the Power Station meets its business objectives. Your key responsibilities will be:

- Managing a team of technicians, apprentices and contract partners

- Control of annual maintenance budget

- Delivering planned maintenance on time and to a high standard

- Prioritising unplanned, emergent work

- Proactively seek our innovative ways to improve SHE, availability, reliability and efficiency within the business

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Knowledge and experience of managing and maintaining high voltage plant and equipment, synchronous generators, excitation systems, LV distribution boards, actuators, motors and protection and control systems for LV and HV systems

- Obtained a minimum qualification of (or equivalent to) HNC in Electrical Engineering, IOSH (minimum) but preferred NEBOSH General or diploma

- Ability to manage a small technical team and contract partners

- Work well with different levels of contractual, technical and managerial staff

- Willing to set and expect high standards of workmanship and Safety and be capable of leading by example
