About the Role
Base Location: At SSE we offer a Flexible First approach to work, however we will require you to be based at our Reading office 2-3 days per week.
Salary: £37,600 - £56,400 depending on skills and experience
Working Pattern: 12 month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available
Within the EPM Risk & Assurance function the Energy Demand Forecasting team work closely with the trading team, finance, retail and business energy - analysing the impact of weather, consumption trends, energy efficiency and strategic assumptions to enable EPM to minimise balancing costs and optimise energy procurement costs.
In this role, your main responsibilities will include:-
- The timely production of accurate long and short-term forecasts of demand for gas and electricity across GB & Ireland.
- Providing support across all the forecast areas, streamlining the forecast process, improving accuracy as well as providing value-adding analysis to our internal customers with the opportunity to specialise in a particular area.
- Looking for ways to continuously improve; creating and delivering change as we are currently in the exciting phase of reviewing and rebuilding the existing forecasting systems, processes and models.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role we would like you to have:
- Great technical skills and experience in the analysis of data (through Excel or other programs).
- Strong mathematical skills with a relevant degree in a numerical subject.
- Good communication skills.
- Commercial experience and knowledge of forecasting techniques are also desirable but not essential.
In return, Demand Forecasting offers the opportunity to develop your analytical and modelling skills, develop a detailed knowledge of the balancing and settlement mechanisms of the energy industry as well as a broad overview of how energy costs drive performance across the company.
