What is the Role?
We are looking for a Data Network Engineer to join our operational team to help support the UK wide data network which provides mission critical services to the SSE group and external commercial customers.
This role will support the Neos Networks Ethernet and IP network which is deployed across Nokia, Infinera, Cisco and Juniper platforms.
You will be required to support a range of the Nokia 7750 SR product family and the 7210 SAS SX whilst using NSP including NFM-P (5620 SAM). Alongside this building services on the Infinera XTM series using DNA-M. As well as a broad range of Cisco routers, switches and ASA firewalls, and Juniper QFX switches and SRX firewalls
The role will primarily involve provisioning of customer services, supporting and implementing project support requests which includes out of hours changes. You will also provide tier 3 support to the 24/7 NOC including fault finding of services and the network. Building, commissioning and troubleshooting Cisco and Juniper equipment. Working with Project Manager and Architects to deliver solutions to our customers
You will be working as part of a small team however you will be working with a variety of different departments and will also be expected to work alongside the architecture team when required and will also be able to analyse and report on network performance.
What do I need?
To fulfil this role, you will demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills, you will be self-motivated and be able to prioritise workloads as required.
We are looking for a motivated individual who is keen on growing their technical knowledge. We would expect a minimum of 2 years' experience in the telecoms networking industry in Cisco, Nokia ALU and Juniper, Infinera is desirable. 
You will have knowledge in configuring Ethernet L2 services such as ELAN and ELINE, as well as L3 VPN services and ISP services. You will have experience in router configuration configuring OSPF, MPLS, RSVP and LDP. Switching environments, VLAN, VXLAN, Spanning Tree. You would also have knowledge of troubleshooting commands and be able to troubleshoot faults.
 
Nokia NRS, MEF, Cisco and Juniper qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence.
