Join us in this role where you'll deliver the consenting and environmental concepts for our projects and provide content for the upcoming Dutch seabed lease bids for our growing offshore windfarm pipeline. As Consent, Ecology & Environment Manager for renewables projects in the Netherlands, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering the overall business unit strategy.
Welcome to our brand-new team, development Offshore Netherlands
As part of our international growth plans, we have recently established a team based in the Netherlands. You'll be part of the Dutch crew where you, and your colleagues, will work within a small but highly motivated team, 'hands-on' collaborating on different projects in the Netherlands. You'll be identifying leading research and environmental & ecology opportunities across the Netherlands and Europe to ensure SSE's bids are world leading. This content will sell cutting-edge ideas on how to tackle both the biodiversity and climate change emergencies, with a focus on ecological enhancements and mitigations in the Dutch environment.
You'll play a crucial role in:
- Managing the delivery of ecological enhancements and mitigations from the Hollandse Kust West project ensuring they are aligned with Dutch research programmes and results are effectively communicated.
- Working alongside the bid team to creatively to come up with ideas and written content to meet bid scoring criteria.
- Identifying environmental constraints and opportunities to support site identification.
- Keeping up to date with research programmes in the Netherlands to make sure SSE's involvement is at the cutting edge of the industry.
- Leading and delivering necessary consents and environmental input to seabed lease bids, managing specialist consultants and engaging with key stakeholders.
- Working as part of the wider SSE Renewables development team, with the potential to work across one of the largest development portfolios of offshore wind projects in a variety of different stages of development.
To succeed in the role, we'd love you to have:
- Experience and understanding of the offshore sector including environmental and ecology research programmes.
- A good working knowledge and understanding of Dutch project governance around approvals and programme and financial management procedures will be required, as will an innovative approach when addressing consenting issues and their resolution.
- Ability to work effectively both independently, and as part of the wider SSE Renewables team, managing internal and external resources and supporting and mentoring junior team members, deputising for senior colleagues and engaging in strategic discussions on complex technical and environmental issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders including regulators, statutory and non-statutory advisors, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
- A commercial approach to all work is expected, challenging colleagues, stakeholders and contractors to manage risk, achieve viable solutions to consenting issues and support overall project objectives.
