To reach net zero by 2050, we're looking for people who can bring big ideas, new skills and innovative thinking to help us build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family, the community you live in and for generations to come.

So join us on our journey to net zero and help us power change.

About the Role

Base Location: Flexibility across the Scottish Highlands.

Salary: £32,900 - £49,300 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

SSE operates a programme of community funds across the UK and Ireland, primarily associated with community benefit from its renewable energy assets. The current lifetime value of its community funds is over £300 million. We employ a place-based approach to community funds ensuring that, where practicable, our fund managers are accessible.

Working as part of the Community Investment team, you will take responsibility for the development, management and administration of a key part of grant-funding programmes. Acting as an ambassador for SSE, you will seek to build strong relationships with local and regional stakeholders from community representatives to politicians, ensuring that a positive impact to both the community and company is maximised. Equally, you will be required to work closely with, and advise, business units on community and community funding issues such as policy and best practice.

Your key responsibilities will include:-

- Managing all aspects of a portfolio of community funds in the Highlands. This will include working with community groups and organisations to ensure funding addresses key priorities in the area.

- Stakeholder engagement/management - liaise, advise and influence key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that community funds are represented in such a way that help support business and community goals.

- Facilitate meetings with groups of community members and third sector partners, ensuring that choices about how funds are allocated are taken in a fair, consistent and transparent manner. You must also be able to identify opportunities to communicate the funds both at a micro-community level and to wider stakeholders.

- Manage several community funds simultaneously, carefully balancing workload with deadlines in the most efficient and effective manner.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- An understanding of funding, third sector, community development and/or the renewables industry.

- Excellent communications (written and verbal), negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to handle potentially difficult discussions with internal or external stakeholders.

- Confidence presenting to both small and large groups.

- Comfortable working autonomously, taking ownership for your own matters and challenging decision or practices as required.

- A degree of flexibility is required as your role will include regularly working out of core hours, particularly evenings, and to travel within the UK. A full UK driving licence is therefore essential.
