About the Role
Base Location: Cardiff
Salary: £30,272- £35,194 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

SSE has one of the largest fleets in the UK operates extensively across the length and breadth of the country, including the remote Islands of Scotland and overseas, in the course of delivering support to the nation’s critical national energy infrastructure. As a member of this essential team, who manage assets including Cars, Vans, HGV and Plant equipment, you would be pivotal in delivering a safe and legally compliant fleet service to our internal customers.
The main objective of the role is to deliver engineering technical expertise and supporting administration in support of the through life management of all vehicles, specifically focussing on Vans and HGVS.
In addition to the daily administration tasks required in delivering a first-class fleet service, such as fuel cards, daily rentals and core fleet, the post holder would also be required to be fully conversant and experienced with the technical and maintenance elements of a fleet operation. This will include an understanding of maintenance budgets and related efficiencies, with additional engineering related SSE site and supplier visits to provide input to technical queries and decisions, whilst creating relevant engineering reports to support any findings or decisions made.
The role will utilise several management systems used in support of fleet operations and will assist the relevant fleet managers to operate their assets in support of business unit requirements. The role reports directly to the Commercial Fleet manager and will be both internal and external facing, so will be prepared to attend and input to internal customer and external supplier meetings as required.
This role requires experience or the willingness to learn and fully understand what is involved in the operations of the fleet as the post holder will need to have the ability to maintain credibility behind the any reports developed and delivered both verbally and electronically via all levels of management structures and senior leaders alike. It therefore requires a confident individual with a willingness to understand the Groups strategies and operations whilst maintaining a pragmatic approach to delivery.
Additionally, the Group has made a global commitment to deliver on zero emission governmental targets and strategies, so this role will operate across all sub-teams to deliver insight and strategy in achieving our own fleet requirements, in support of the Groups strategic direction
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Recognised vehicle related engineering qualification.
- Ability to interrogate and interpret data for accurate reporting, including detailed explanations of reports with some understanding of inputs to budgets and budget building process.
- Knowledge and understanding of fleet and travel market.
- Continual auditing and sense-checking capabilities.
- Understanding of the role of Corporate functions and Fleet Services in particular.
- Ability to schedule and coordinate meetings, activities and tasks internally and externally.
- Experience of managing multiple tasks simultaneously with the ability to adapt to ongoing changes in business plans and goals.
