What is the Role?
Main purpose of the role reporting to the Finance & Commercial Modelling Manager, as part of the wider Commercial Modelling Team, you will be involved in a variety of projects and will support the development and implementation of robust financial models and analysis across the business.
Through training, as your skillset develops, you will ultimately help the board of directors to make financially sound decisions, which supports the strategic goals of the business. SSE Telecoms is currently 50% owned by SSE Plc and 50% owned by Infracapital Partners, a European infrastructure fund, with a focus on core infrastructure assets. SSE Telecoms owns and manages a core infrastructure network throughout the UK in excess of 30,000km.
Revenues are earnt by enabling innovative and technology-leading connectivity for businesses around the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and work closely with both the Finance & Commercial Modelling Manager and wider business stakeholders, on deal/ tender opportunities and other strategic projects as guided by the board of directors.
1. Financial & Commercial Modelling Assist in developing and embedding robust and standardised financial models for the business.
2. Create Best Practice Expertise Assist with the provision of modelling best practice expertise, continuous improvements and support the broader Finance function and Bid Teams, in reviewing model inputs and assumptions to reflect the market.
3. Bid Team Support and Investment Appraisal In order to win new work, SSE Telecoms bids for work with clients, also known as 'anchor customers'.
You will work closely with bid teams and the end clients, to understand the key drivers of the business opportunity that will be modelled.
This will include attending regular meetings with solution experts, building financial models and supporting the business with commercial challenge of the opportunity via the investment gateway process. You will also support the business on the appraisal of other network investment opportunities.
After a successful period, you may be offered the opportunity to study towards a CIMA professional qualification.
What do I need?
Educated to degree or master's level (in a numeric/scientific discipline) at 2:1 or above.
Industrial placement experience preferred, but not required.
Moderate level of expertise using Microsoft Excel, aptitude to learn best practice modelling practices.
An understanding of investment principles (e.g. DCF, IRR, NPV) or accounting concepts desired.

Good time and organisational skills, including an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
