Thinking about applying? Here's what you need to know.

Do you want to become a future HR Leader? Take your career prospects to the next level by developing your skills within a large FTSE 100 company! Operate at the heart of our critical and evolving HR function, whilst being fully supported in your career development into a permanent role that reflects your experience and areas of interest.

You will spend time in at least two of our core HR functions, getting real hands-on experience of working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will get an opportunity to develop your professional network as well as getting the chance to engage with graduates from other core programmes across SSE to extend your network further. You may be involved in key projects, and you will certainly be on a steep, but fulfilling learning curve.

In your second year, you’ll continue your rotations within the function, and you will likely be forming a clearer picture of which part(s) of HR may be of interest to you when your two-year programme comes to an end. You will be leveraging the support of your scheme sponsor and mentor to help you in your decision making and without question you will be excited by what lies ahead in your HR career within SSE. In second year, you'll continue on your learning journey, getting involved in placements across the business as well as other training.

HR support the growth of the business as it looks to deliver net zero. We manage and run the processes that attract and develop people within SSE. That means creating an employment brand and an employee experience that supports our growth and development as the UK’s Leading Green Energy Company. We are also planning for future growth, assessing the types of skills that will be needed to deliver our net zero ambitions and building development and training programmes to ensure we have these crucial skills that will allow us to deliver our ambitious plans. Making SSE a really Great Place to Work, and ensuring we attract a diverse workforce that benefit from leading employment policies and practices is a key part of what we do.
