Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) is the energy markets heart of the SSE Group, trading commodities and securing value for SSE's asset portfolios in wholesale energy markets as we move towards our vision of being a leading energy company in a net zero world.  In EPM, we ensure we have the energy supplies required to meet the needs of customers; procuring the fuel required by the generation plants and selling the power output from our wind farms, hydro and low-carbon thermal assets.  

EPM operates in busy, demanding and ever-changing markets, where no two days are the same. We’re constantly looking for ways to drive innovation across our team, and are investing heavily to build our capabilities across the people, systems and analytical to make that possible. We have bold plans for the future and need more talented and skilled people to join our growing EPM business and help SSE group to power change. We’re looking for candidates who will likely have a trading and/or commercial background, an inquisitive mind with critical thinking second nature. From Energy Trader to Meteorologist, Risk Manger to Market Analyst, whatever your role in EPM, you’ll be playing your part in the fight against climate change and helping us on our journey to net zero.

David Small, Head of Energy Management Centre

Helena Galloway, Shift Energy Trader

Helena joined SSE 13 years ago initially in our retail call centre whilst attending university.

She's since progressed to become a financial analyst in renewable operations, into gas storage as a trader, then into EMC as a gas trader and is about to begin a new role as a power trader.

Abi Workmaster, Shift Energy Trader

Abi joined SSE through our internship scheme with a geography degree.

She worked with E&P as a business analyst, a year and a half later joined the EMC where she has now been for four years, initially trading gas and then onto the power trading desk.
